Take a look at yourself
tell me what you can see
Is it the eyes of a bird
resting innocently?
Weighing down on your chest
a feeling you can't suppress
living with an unwelcome guest.
You try to get away but
the pain's here to stay...
Day after day
The albatross across your axis
will always be there after all
The albatross across your axis
will be there after all
Why must you carry this weight?
you plead towards the sky
The wind is all that responds
'answers aren't so black and white'
Some kind of punishment
feels so immediate
yet an eternal torture you deal with
'Can anyone else here see
what this is doing to me?'
You call to a lonely sea
The albatross across your axis
will always be there after all
The albatross across your axis
will be there after all
--
You dock your ship
at your hometown
tired after your long trek
Family, friends
you look around and see
birds wrapped 'round their necks!
The albatross across your axis
will always be there after all
The albatross across your axis
will be there after
Always be there
Be
there
after
all!

Skipping into Autumn
01:27
|
|||
Who knew that passing
could look so beautiful?
Tree leaves bleed out red
crumple and fall
I stomp them out with
my red galoshes when I go
skipping into autumn just myself and I
--
The day is ending
It looks so beautiful
The sky bleeds out red
as daylight falls
I make my way home
Can't wait till I can go back out
skipping into autumn at some other time!

If you ever come around
don't make a sound
cause if you make a sound
then you risk being found
And I can't protect you then
from whatever you had said
and I'll wish you hadn't said
what you said…
way back when…
If they ever hear you speak
they'll call you a freak
and then they'll point and laugh
and I can’t be seen with that
So I…
Will take their cue
I’ll point…
The finger at you
It’s true you see
cause if I wear their shoes
then I’m never gonna lose
cause I won’t be the one they’ll
wanna make fun of
But you say my stance is fake
that my loyalty’s at stake
since I won’t put myself at stake
Well then go…
If that’s what it takes
Oooooo-ooo-ooooh
Now there’s no one left
‘cept the ones who act exempt
from the values we hold close
I’ve been tied up to the post
When you make your mindset seen
when you’re resisting the scene
Don’t give up solidarity
Fight as one
Or fall…
like me…

Bursting the Wall
01:37
|
|||
A friend came up to me and said he’s trudging like a train without a track
I said ‘a simple simile can solve the suffering that ails your mind today’
We made a pact we must enact
the revolution starts today!
Everyone was pushing pins and pressing painful grins
against their gilded golden grails to no avail
Left behind: the basic signs of life this class had lost
to leave a legacy of quarters and dimes
We could care less about arrest
we’d rather have some time to rest!
—
That was the day
I stood amazed
System decayed
They sweetened their deal
They lost to their zeal
We pushed back their heels
They don’t know how to feel
But we know how to feel
Yes smokestacks can fall
and silver gears can stall
cause we burst the wall!
They might have the gall
But we’ve got us all!

My Highway
03:49
|
|||
I was walkin’ by myself down a lonely highway
I saw the boss sitting there she asked “you gonna come down my way?”
I said depending on what’s down this street I’m balancing this task to treat
myself to a calm life ahead but what if all I find instead is
desert and desert and just some city lights that shine on the horizon?
Well there’s a cactus full of water but what if the water’s bitter?
and the night keeps coming after me but I know I can’t quit or else
I’ll fall off the map and be forgotten for all of time
The boss shook her head and looked dead at me right into my eyes
She said…
‘It’ll never be your way, it’s my highway’
Doesn’t matter what the world thinks of you,
they don’t care anyway
But you’re useful to me so I’ll pay you and you repay me with a job well done
And so I walked with the boss down the crowded cold highway…
I was tied to a raft and I was floating down a river
and the boss said that she’d row if she had oars that I could give her
But with my hands bounded in ropes and with the rapids coming closer
there was nothing I could do but watch the death of all my hopes
and so her swearing was drowned out by the waves of the stream
and my mind
Then we crashed up on the shore without a creak but with a paddle
as she hit me with her saying I had sabotaged her efforts
“it’s my fault that I’m a shame, I hated her since the beginning”
The boss had given me so much and now her patience thinning
She says…
‘It’ll never be your way, it’s my highway’
Doesn’t matter what the world thinks of you,
they don’t care anyway
You were useful to me so I paid you and you gave me nothing not even respect
And I was left in the sand with my arms tied in bands…
I left my satisfaction for debt
I left my satisfaction for debt
I left my satisfaction for debt
and the skulls in the dirt
are all that’s exempt
And I don’t wanna be
And I don’t wanna be
And I don’t wanna be
one of them!
—
The stars caught me staring and they gave me a message
A beam of light that lingered in my mind
The world is bigger than just one person
And a person's bigger than the words that hurt them
Don't think...
That it'll never be your way, that it's their highway
Doesn't matter what the world thinks of you,
don't you care what they say
You're useful by being yourself so be yourself
Be the best you can be.
And so I freed myself
The night; she set me free

Autumn December
01:12
|
|||
It’s my autumn December
the time you can’t quite remember
It’s my autumn December
my autumn December
When the wind, it howls
and the monsters growl
Can’t stop raining down
Everyone’s laughing out loud
Upside smiles are frowns
Goosebumps biting down
Stuck with your family now
Outside’s cold and ugly…
Beauty

Marching up the Mountain
04:04
|
|||
There once lived a man
Just a man, normal man
Who was plain and as average as they come
But this man had a plan
Yes a plan, master plan
From the tree he’d fall so far and be the plum
In the town, little town
Man would educate the crowds
Telling people of his tales of childhood strife
But then word got around
In this town, they found out
That the stories that he told weren’t of his life
And they were marchin’ up the mountain going
One by one
And they were marchin’ up the mountain going
Two by two
And they were marchin’ up the mountain going
Three by three
To cast off the man and throw him to the stream
Before man hatched his plan
In the town that he found
He’d go round askin’ people of their youth
He had learned that the circumstances
around his birth
Were more fortunate that he used to assume
But even through thick and thin
All the trouble and hardship
Gave the people of this village a unique bond
And the man envied them
Wishing he could touch a hand
To the town he had so quickly grown so fond
And they were marchin’ up the mountain going
Four by four
And they were marchin’ up the mountain going
Five by five
And they were marchin’ up the mountain going
Six by six
To cast off the man across the river styx
Runs this king, so called king
Who had stolen everything
Telling tales, earning glory, sharing none
Now the true words of old
Rest within forgotten souls
As a flippant field of stories spread around
At the summit of the peak
He knows his position is bleak
The king cries for mercy for his grave misdeeds
But the town looks him down
And there’s no turning back now!
He’s made his field to fall in and he’s swept
With open arms

Waiting Room
03:37
|
|||
It's there
the application form is in front of me
but
the drum in my chest wont cease or rest
Admissions,
the woman widens a smile
as if knowing, somehow,
the future would still be bright
I'm there
the proctor has shone a great light on me
and
my drum beats faster keeping me on track
Professor,
why the huge red letter?
as if knowing
the craft was not enough for you
I was left in the waiting room
As judgment reigned on me
Cold with a stare for if I had dared
to question the things I'd seen
It's there
the papers that were left when I was thrown away
now
the drum is still, it's lacking a purpose in life
Conductor,
a train with holes will always fail its cargo
as if knowing
the world could ever be reasonable
...

You Still Have Hope
01:59
|
|||
Look at his eyes
Gazing so hopefully
I look where he's staring
I see nothing there
How come he's so happy
for what I can't see?
Is this a huge problem
or is it just me?
The sun is setting out there
The clouds don't have a single care
Or is it smoke that fills the sky?
It blocks my view I can't see why...
You still have hope.
You still have hope.
Why do you have hope?
